Abstract:
A ventilation air methane (VAM) preheating catalytic oxidation reactor with dual chamber was built, and the effect of space velocity, intake temperature and methane concentration on oxidation characteristics of the reactor were studied experimentally. The results show a good symmetry in the reactor and the steady self-maintenance running was successfully realized (the methane conversion rate was more than 92%).The methane conversion rate remained unchanged first and decreased when the space velocity was over 7 100 h
-1.The effective reaction length extended with the increase of space velocity and the rate increased gradually. With the increase of intake temperature, the methane conversion rate increased and reached its maximum when the temperature was 485℃, the effective reaction length was shorten dramatically. With the increase of methane concentration, the change of methane conversion rate was not distinct (about 95%), the temperature of oxidation bed increased and the effective reaction length decreased a little. The above results may provide a theoretical guidance for the extensive application of VAM preheating catalytic oxidation reactor.
